Estimating Soil Thermal Conductivity by Weighted Average Models with Soil Solids as a Continuous Medium

چکیده

Abstract In an attempt to further simplify and refine the modeling of soil thermal conductivity ( ? ), two novel weighted average models (WAMs) were developed in which solids represent continuous phase. first model, WAM s -1, phase consists distinctive minerals groups (quartz compounded remaining minerals), while air water are treated as dispersed components. second -2, all considered phase, contrast de Vries’ original with phases (soil or water), proposed very simple due following assumptions: using a single medium lead eliminating discontinuity when switching between medium, dry simplifies complex expression for apparent humid air. Both successfully calibrated validated 39 Canadian Field Soil database 3 Standard Sands applied 10 Chinese soils.

DEVELOPMENT OF CORRELATIONS FOR SOIL THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY by

Soil thermal conductivity is significantly influenced by saturation and dry density. In this paper, a family of empirical correlations are presented which relate soil thermal conductivity to saturation for five soil types, namely, gravel, sand, silt, clay and peat, in both the frozen and unfrozen states. These correlations were developed from a soil thermal conductivity database which was const...

Soil profile method for soil thermal diffusivity, conductivity and heat flux: Comparison to soil heat flux plates

Diffusive heat flux at the soil surface is commonly determined as a mean value over a time period using heat flux plates buried at some depth (e.g., 5–8 cm) below the surface with a correction to surface flux based on the change in heat storage during the corresponding time period in the soil layer above the plates. The change in heat storage is based on the soil temperature change in the layer...

Estimating the Saturated Hydraulic Conductivity of Soil Using Gene Expression Programming Method and Comparing It with the Pedotransfer Functions

Saturated hydraulic conductivity of soil is an important physical property of soil that affects water movement in soil, Since the measurement of saturated hydraulic conductivity by direct methods in the field or in the laboratory is hard, time-consuming and costly, the indirect methods are being used. The aim of this study is to estimate the saturated hydraulic conductivity from other soil prope...
